Ragwort
Consumption of 1.5 to 2 kilos of ragwort over hours, days, months or years will result in the death of a horse. Ragwort is a cumulative poison which causes irreversible liver damage in humans and animals. Ragwort should be dug up or pulled whilst wearing gloves. It should be put on a bonfire or disposed of in such a way as not to present a danger to animals (eg not thrown on the muck heap). It is far more palatable when dry and is therefore a danger in fields where hay is cut and therefore needs uprooting before it seeds.
